Brattle Associate Kamen Madjarov Presented Renewable Integration Model and Analysis at the 2010 Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition

Kamen Madjarov, an associate in The Brattle Group’s Cambridge, MA office, presented a paper titled "Renewable Integration Model and Analysis" at a poster session of IEEE’s 2010 Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition in New Orleans between April 19-22, 2010. The paper described a model developed by a team of experts that quantifies the amount of conventional generation needed to integrate a given portfolio of renewable resources. The model provides a wide range of flexibility in simulating and estimating the system impact associated with renewable generation based on resource-specific characteristics, and calculates the fixed and variable costs of accommodating variable generation on the system.

The model is explained in more depth in a paper authored by Judy Chang, Kamen Madjarov, Ross Baldick, Antonio Alvarez, and Philip Q Hanser that is published by IEEE through the proceedings of the conference.
